The Town Hall

The Bad Bernecker Town Hall provides services for the 4,500 residents of the town and its surrounding areas. Tourist information is also located here. For a town of its size, it has always been a challenge to organize the considerable spa and tourism ventures. In a film, the QR-tour shows you the history of the spa industry in Bad Berneck. Since 2008, the goal of Bad Berneck has been to establish itself as an ‘Art & Culture Town’ in addition to being a health resort.

One of the first measures was the establishment of the Art Street Bad Berneck (Kunststrasse) (see Events); this was followed by the opening of a cultural center in the KUKUK (see QR 13) and the introduction of the Town Hall Gallery, which regularly features exhibitions by renowned artists. The QR-Tour was also conceived as a project to strengthen the cultural scene in the town.

The theme of “Art & Culture” creates an atmosphere that not only increases the quality of life for Bad Berneck’s citizens, day-trippers, holiday and festival guests, but also supports its long-term development as an artists’ colony. Of course, the subject of culture was not ‘invented’ in 2008 – Bad Berneck is brimming with traditional customs and festivals: The Castle Festival, the town fairs, the performances on the outdoor stage, pretzel weeks, concerts in the park and many more celebrate the cuisine, the arts and the traditions of the city. Kunststraße: The Art Street Bad Berneck
Art displays are spotlighted in many previously empty shop windows in the romantic Old Town. Since 2008, about 20 stations bridge the distance from the large parking lot ‘Anger’ to the Spa Park. Artists from near and far turn shop windows from Easter to autumn into a ‘24-hour Gallery’, featuring innovative art. Nativity scenes with wooden creches is the focus of one winter theme; other exhibitions are also thematical.
Parallel to the Art Street Bad Berneck, exhibitions and events take place e.g. in the KUKUK, spa park, the Town Hall Gallery and many more.
The initiative was launched by Sandra Schiffel, who developed Art Street Bad Berneck after her analysis of shop vacancies in the medieval town center. The artist’s association ‘Focus Europa’ supports her with the programming.
